Q-jet Carb

I have a qjet carb and I wanted to know if the numbers under the letters NC means anything. The numbers are 3471. I know what the numbers before the NC means. I was just curious if these numbers mean anything.

Would that be date of manufacture: Day 347 of 1971 to go on a 1972 model year car?

If I counted right, that would have been Monday, December 13.

I believe the nc is a bit of a mystery, it is called a plant code in some literature, others say it is an inspection stamp. I've never seen an actual list of all the codes and what they mean. If anyone knows of such a list, please post. Thanks, good topic

Does a broadcast card tell the line worker what part goes with which car? I've never heard of one before.

No mystery at all, and I've never been able to understand what "others" say about anything.

As Mark says it's the pick code: The workers on the assembly line looked at the build sheet and picked the right part off of the right rack to be installed on the right car at the right time. In order to make it as fast and easy for them to pick the right part, almost every part had a two letter code, including such things as carburetors, engines, transmissions, differentials, springs, sway bars, shocks, and instrument clusters.

You want a list? Go look in the Assembly Manual - it lists the carburetors and their pick codes on the page where it indicated how the carburetor is to be mounted to the intake.
