NOOB's GUIDE to minimum vacuum lines for CCC system

Hi friends,

This is a continuation of the thread Gutting 307 emission control vacuum lines but with a lot of pictures to make is noob friendly.

This setup would have the CCC Qjet carburetor, stock distributor and the 200R4 transmission with the ECM of a 1987 307 with 7A heads and A5 intake.

1. NO CAT - Mine does not have a catalytic converter (long gone) and it is also emissions exempt, therefore I have taken off the Air Injection pump and the plumbing.

I have the AIR injection ports closed as below.

2. NO HEAT RISER - I do not trust a valve that sits in hot air and soot to function a long time without getting stuck. Also, I live in a tropical country therefore cold weather operation is not applicable. Therefore, I have taken off the valve mechanism, of the (EFE) or "heat riser valve" and kept its body because that's needed to connect the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe.

The valve

My EFE (early fuel evaporation) / TVS (thermal vacuum switch) was broken, so I am using epoxy glue to close that hole on the top.

Testing Differential Vacuum Delay Valve (DVDV)

Testing procedure

Apparatus

On test 1, there is hardly any delay in the vacuum gauge. Also, the vacuum gauge reads 11"Hg instead of 17", while the vacuum applied was 18"Hg.
On test 2, there was hardly any vacuum held by the device.
Therefore, I guess I can declare the unit is faulty.

Testing Vacuum Regulator Valve (VRV)

Test procedure

Apparatus

The device would not hold vacuum above 14"Hg whereas the test requires 23"Hg.
Therefore, I would declare the unit to be faulty.

Evaporative system

As Joe Padavano pointed out that my TVS was broken, I would remove the evaporative system out as well.

Thermal Vacuum Switch (TVS)

Therefore, the TVS would be kept (to keep coolant leaking from that port), but the charcoal cannister and the CCV below (cannister control valve) would be removed.

Thanks to DoubleV for his contributions on what could be removed from the system without any issues.
