New Engine Mount Questions

Hey all. Will be pulling my motor (350 rocket) on the 72 cutlass soon to replace the gaskets and do some upgrades. I've noticed that my oil pan looks like it is making slight contact with my cross member so I am assuming I need new engine mounts. If I replace the engine mounts will I have to replace the transmission mount as well? My concern is that the engine will sit higher and I wont be able to connect the bolts that connect the flex plate to the torque converter.

The trans mount is a pivot point. The trans can rock up and down to align with the engine. Your concern is not a real issue.

I will say my 72s engine mounts were whipped as well. When i replaced them one was broken and they appeared to be original. Based on those findings i replaced the trans mount as well. FYI its much easier to replace the trans mount than the engine mounts.

Upgrading the torque converter definitely helps launch. The stock TH350 converter flashes at 1600 rpm, pretty low. Look at the Supercars Unlimited motor mounts, supposedly a different source for them. The cheap Anchor brand mounts, at least the 73 and up style have had some with the holes way off and need them wallowed out to even bolt to the block. I haven't seen any issues on here with the 2261 Anchor mounts you need.

Yea I've heard stock TC stalls at around 1600 RPM, I got a torque converter for 2000-2200 RPM coming in a few days so that should be nice paired with the other stuff I am doing to the engine.
