Engine Removal
I like to use a carb plate. Does not cost much, and you can place it in different holes, so like if you take the tran with it, same time, put it in the front hole, and as it comes out it tilts down in the back, and makes it easy to come out. You do need a helper to do it this way, but works great. Should have a helper, no matter how you do it anyway.
I used the holes in the front and back of the heads too, a couple of links bolted on each one to be safe and on all four corners.
An engine tilter is a fairly inexpensive tool and makes things a whole lot easier.
You can borrow mine if you're lucky and fortunate enough to be close to beauteous Cleveland, Ohio.
A guy borrowed my cherry picker and then he went and croaked and I never saw it again, so only if you're healthy.
I'm glad he didn't borrow my engine tilter too.
