engine rebuild cam question
Here is what I have
1970 350 #6 heads with the larger valves (w31)
.030 over flat top pistons will be around 9.5 / 1 compression
turbo 350 with B&M 2300 Stall
3.08 gears Open Rearend
Headers
Performer RPM intake
What cam would you guys reccomend?
I will be using the car for street / show. Want to have good throttle response, but also a nice muscle car sound.
Any advice would be appreciated
Doug

Seems like your Cr should be a little higher than that, closer to 10. The venerable old Engle 20-22 (.496/.502 226/230 on a 110, IIRC) is a good stick, makes good power and sounds good. But, there are plenty of newer grinds plus you can go custom for about the same price.

Same question in the big block section. Jim's right, you can get something better that'll work. I'd do something with a little less intake duration ground on a 108. I did a Lunati that was 223/231 on a 108 in at 104. Worked great, that would be good for your application as well. That's give you the sound but also make your power come in a little earlier. You'll need that with the 3.08 gear.

mine is .30 and flat tops with 6 heads that i had the big valves put in and if i done the math right when i built it i have 9.72 cr. i am not a pro at these figures though. i have the stock intake and exhaust manifolds and i have the engle JM-18-20. i really like it for the street but like mentioned above, i think you could find something cheeper and get the same results. i have a 4 speed in mine and getting a true 16 miles per gallon. i have 3:42 gears so you may get even better mileage.
