Carb sizzling fuel from gasket with video

Would like your thoughts on this brand new build. Brawler carb. The engine is definitely running rich I adjusted the mixture screws again they may be a half a turn out. Exhaust tips are black, plugs are black but if I make it any leaner it stalls.

Anyway, I noticed this happening. Drips of blackish fuel dripping from the carb gasket. Is this just a gasket problem or is this a bigger issue?

Is the float level adjusted correctly? Is the fuel pressure in the right range?

I'd saysay yes. Floats are mid window and fuel pressure is 6 psi according to the **** meter on the fuel line. It's stock fuel pump.

I noticed that the gasket is flush with the intake on that side where as the other side it over hangs slightly. It's leaking on the side that is flush I'm going to put a new gasket on tomorrow.

Weird part to me is that it's the color of oil. Not sure how it could be that color

I think the color is due to the residue cooking on the exhaust crossover.

id replace the gasket and torque the carb w a wrench Maybe lower the float to the bottom of the window. Can we see a pic showing the carb and intake from a little further back?

Check fastener tightness and give the carb some percussive maintenance with a plastic screwdriver handle upside the body. Needle could be hanging up.

probably right on the color, didnt think about the cooking changing the color.

Not 100% sure on your manifold but on every other Edelbrock spread bore intake you have to use the 2732 plate with a Holley type carb or you end up with a vacuum leak. I do not see it in your pictures.

I might need to try that. I just changed the gasket. See what happens.

This intake says specifically accepts square bore carb without adapter. I will say that it looks like a hybrid between spread and square and I can totally see where that could be a problem. All the curves around the edges are strange.

I think when they say that it means the regular tall type adapters. Just about every one I have seen will leak at the spot where it is jogs out to fit the big Q-jet secondaries.

Put a new gasket on and didn't over tighten the carb down. Drove it about an hour and no gas leaks. Vacuum is where it was before about 14 on idle

Block off the heat riser in the intake! (vs the heads).
It's almost too late with how cooked the intake looks already.
It will run better due to less heat soak.

It's aluminum and should clean up. Way back we used mag wheel cleaner and that did a great job on uncoated aluminum. I don't know if the stuff available these days is watered down / neutered in comparison but maybe give it a try.
