Carb gaskets?

I am having an issue with the gasket that mounts in between the intake and the carb (2BBL Rochester). I have gone thru 2 gaskets that come in the rebuild kit with no luck.

Can I use cork gasket material and make my own? Does cork hold up against gasoline?

Thanks

What problem are you having? Cork would not be a good type gasket on the intake. Are you sure it is not the carb, or intake that is the problem, like cracked or warped?

I am having an air leak at the front of the carb in between the intake manifold and carb.

If either one was warped, I figured a thicker gasket material would help seal it. I torqued everything to spec on both gaskets I used but I am still having a leak.

It is causing my motor to periodically bog down (drop several hunderd rpm) at low speed especially when under load (using brakes, operating the A/C, etc.)

Don't use cork, don't use sillycone, do not use alternative sealers.
Rare issue with the 2 bbl.
Some rebuild kits used to have thicker gaskets. I have some that are .060/.065" thick, and a pair that are over .300" thick.
Pm me if you want them.
Make sure that your carburetor baseplate is flat.
