Which 350 Valley Pan Gasket '72 and Below 7 heads?

putting an RPM 7111 intake on my stock '72 350 with 7 heads. the ebrock instructions accessed via their website say use a fel-pro ms96027, which i bought from summit. fitting it on the block it's fine except the gasket cut out is too big around the dr side heat crossover port, the cut out is about 1/4' to 3/8" too tall and it sticks out from under the manifold when i set it in place. looking back at the application data on the summit site, the ms96027 is for '73 and up sbo. looking at the old gasket, the number on it is 90127, and it fits correctly. was there a difference in the size of this port in the '73 and up heads (8's i presume)? and what is the correct valley pan gasket for my '72 7 heads? looking at the picture of the sealed power 260-4010, it looks visually the same as my older gasket, and the summit site indicates it fits a '72 application. is this the correct gasket? thanks for any insight - mark

I like to use a composition style gasket with aluminum intake manifolds.

Yes, the crossover ports on 73-newer Olds heads are larger and the gasket is different to match. Use the 1972-older gasket.

Thanks, Joe. I'll post the PN of the gasket I end up using. Anybody with '73-up sbo heads need a gasket, cheap.

That would be FelPro MS96009.

I called Edelbrock tech suppt., and they confirmed that MS96009 was indeed the correct gasket. They apologized and mentioned that the writers in the publications department are often guilty of "cutting and pasting." I asked if there was a way to submit candidate entries for edits to tech materials, but there is not. Thanks again, Joe.
