350 With Hydraulic Roller Cam and Stock intake

Just finishing up with my engine build.
Going for a stock appearance but with hydraulic roller cam - everything seemed to be going well until I went to install the intake.
From what I read from people building 455's I'll need to window the turkey pan for lifters to clear. However the intake itself hits the lifters - there doesn't seem to be any clearance. It seems like the crossover for the exhaust is too deep?

Has anyone done a stock appearing build with a 350 and roller setup? What's the trick? Should I machine the intake casting ?

Lunati cam
Johnson Lifters
Custom Pushrods
Stock 1970 intake

Try turning the lifters around so the tie bar faces the block.

grat,
I had the same problem with the 307 I did in my Wife's Riviera. Even flipping the lifters around did not help on some of them. I ended up having to go with an Edelbrock performer and still had to do some grinding. I had Morel street lifters from Straub, he was the only one that had them at the time. It turned out to be a royal pain The performer manifold looks just like the original once it is painted black

I did the same thing with flipping the lifters. I think I will try and grind down the stock intake - I took a look online and the performer looks very similar underneath. Hopefully I can safely remove enough material from the stock one for clearance.

I did that and made some room, but it doesn't seem to be enough.

I didnt feel good at all with how much I was going to have to grind the stock manifold. Thats why I went with the performer. It gives more room but I still had to grind on it some. I have some pictures somewhere, just have to figure out where If I remember correctly I actually had to grind a little on the block too when I flipped the lifters over. The 350 block might be a little different than the 307 too.

Yes, I got close to needing to when I flipped the lifters over, but they fit (might not come out though!)

I am planning on putting the intake on my milling machine - then I can shave it off a little more precise. Hopefully there is enough thickness to make this modification without going through into the heat crossover. I really want to keep a stock appearance here.
Could switch to an aftermarket intake, but you'll still see those raise EDELBROCK logos.

Yes, another option.
However the Edelbrock doesn't seem to be compatible with the stock 70 choke. And from what I read it can still be a bit of an issue with the lifter clearance.
Does the Performer RPM clear the hood with the stock air cleaner and carb?

Yes, a RPM will clear with a stock air cleaner, just fine with my Sport hood They should have just eliminated the EGR on the 2711 and left hot air choke like the 3711 has.

The 3711 does ship with an EGR Block-off plate. I suppose I could just do that?
