330 stock head help!

330 stock head help!

Does anyone know what the maximum lobe lift on a stock 330 head? i heard that most chevy heads the max is .500

Depends on what valve ratainer, valve seal as well as on guide height. The only way to be safe is to check it.

how can i find out? or measure what my maximum is?

.475 lift would be a safe bet.
To figure out your max lift measure your installed height for the valve springs then measure the valve springs fully compressed. Subract the smaller number from the larger number then subtract .080 per coil. That should be your max lift for the springs. When you install a new cam you should also change the springs so that they have the proper pressure for the cam.
