1972 350 Rod Bearing Question
I am in the middle rebuilding a 350 for my step sons car and noticed when we took the rod bearings off they were .010. The motor appears to have never been rebuilt. Nothing was marked to show it was rebuilt. All of the inside parts look to be original. Would these come factory like that? I am the third owner of the motor and the gentle man I bought it from had it in his car for 10 years and the previous owner sold it to him and told him it was untouched. Could the crank have been ground wrong and the factory made the adjustment or is this the way it was done. I bought a rebuild kit and bought the standard kit. Now that its apart I see some of it isn't going to work.

I would say (a guess), its possible but not likely the engine came from GM with those bearings....It is difficult to tell if an engine was rebuilt during the last 40 years or at the least had the crank pulled and oversize bearings installed. It could have been done at a dealer under warrenty or the like....
