1971 Cutlass Vapor Cannister - gas odor
I have not removed it to inspect yet, but since ts the original one I'm guessing that it might need some attention since I get bad gas odor at times.
Is the inside of this serviceable - that is, can the filter element be replaced ?
I see an entire cannister replacement at some of the parts places, but is there an actual replacable filter element inside ?
Thanks in advance
Joe

I just replaced mine with a Duralast VC-120 canister - it's essentially a GM replacement part from what I can tell, in all respects but for the absence of an actual GM part number. My old one has the replaceable filter pad that comes out from the bottom, but you still have the charcoal matter inside a sealed portion of the canister.
I wasn't ambitious enough to cut mine open for an overhaul so the Duralast unit was the perfect option for me.
