1970 cutlass supreme rebuild need help!
Hey i have a 1970 cutlass supreme with the origonal 350 rocket. It has a 270 cam and a holly 4 barrel. I was wondering if anyone knew about what hp i am sitting at? Also i am considering a complete rebuild/bore for this engine. Can anyone provide me with some advice/ parts advice when doing all this before i get too far into this? thank you

70 Rocket
A stock 70 350 rocket with a qaudrajet is right around 300 horse, give or take a few. Was the block decked or bored? These are the sort of things that can factor into raising compression, thus raising horsepower. I found the best cam to run in my 330 in my 67' Cutlass to be a Crane cam, fireball series. See how the Holley carb works, a well built/ tuned qaudrajet will make it run like a "scalded dog"! Good luck!

As Norm often recemmends, find a good machinist and follow his judgment concerning the need to bore the block or not. As to parts, almost any speed/performance catalog can net you a plethora of parts for your rebuild, however, the machinist can obtain everything you would need for the rebuild itself (gaskets, rings, pistons, bearings, etc.).

Sometimes a machinist will even offer a warranty on their work if you let them purchase parts for the rebuild. This way they can make sure they aren't getting any chinesium parts that will EXPLODE the moment you start the engine.
