1956 350/LT1/LS1/LS6 engine swap
Anybody have any info on swapping out my 324 Rocket in my '56 for a modern 350 or other variant from GM? Which kits? Parts list? Any good companies? Anyone done one?
I want to run a 700R4 with it. I'm building a driver - not a strip car and definitely no trailer stuff.
Thanks.

Wow, it must be that time of year...
Before the firestorms start, let me say that the members of this forum are mainly concerned with Olds-powered cars. While I can appreciate the HP output of the LS family, such swaps are too commonplace to be interesting to most of us. I can't imagine that it is very difficult to find generic SBC swap mounting crossmembers, etc. I also caution other folks to keep the posts civil. Obscenities do nothing except comment on the author's intelligence.
I think most folks here would prefer to see either a built up first-gen Olds Rocket or a later 455. It's your car, do what you want. Personally, if you didn't want to make it Olds-powered, at least some originality might be appreciated - Northstar, Turbo Buick, anything other than a snooze-inducing SBC swap. By the way, Cadillac Hot Rod Fabricators sells 700R4s that bolt to a Northstar.

Its spring time and the ideas are flowing, ratrocket please stick with a Olds power plant, a 455 will fit nicely into your car. Check my build thread in big blocks 455 engine swap. Fairly simple install and I ended up with a high performer that will out perform a whole bunch of chevy powered cars. In any case its your car. Just my opinion.
