LS1 swap in a fullsize olds
LS1 swap in a fullsize olds
Hey guys,
So right now I've got my 455 running and all, but at some point I'm likely going to swap it all for an LS1 with a 4L60E, and I wanted to get some input on a few things...
- How does the column shifter get to work with the new tranny?
- What are the options when it comes to dash gauges? New cars have all the digital stuff and my car has negative digital stuff.
- Is there any body work involved in fitting the engine + tranny or is it just a matter of adapting mounts to fit them?

On the shifter, go check on the LS1tech conversions page. There are companies that make parts for that.
Gauges, you can use your original senders for temp, oil, etc. Speedo is a problem. There are modified trans tailstocks to run a mechanical speedo or a cable X module.
Given the size of a 455/th400, the LS/4L60 should fit easily, Mkight have to move the crossmember and change the driveshaft.
