Dead 1960 brake booster- Alternatives?
Greetings folks. My second post and already I'm begging for help.
Ive got a 1960 Dynamic 88, 371 PS/PS thats been sitting forever. I'm replacing the master and I find the booster is dead and not rebuildable.
Looking on line I see theres plenty of universals and was wondering if someone can suggest a universal that will fit and attach to a single line master?
Thanks for the help everyone- this old, Olds newbie is feeling a little lost on his maiden Olds voyage.

My advice would be to find a used booster and have it rebuilt. It could be a real pain to install a "universal" booster. They say they fit everything , they actually fit nothing.
This guy is parting out a 60.

Booster Dewey and Ed Strain are two rebuilders I can think of offhand.

This way you will have a booster you can install with NO hassles. And be confident it will work properly .
Why do you think the booster is not re-buildable ?

I'm still looking into the booster as Dewey doesnt have one at the moment.
Any comments on this one from Speedway? http://www.speedwaymotors.com/8-Inch...ster,9557.html
Just wondering if it'll fit the bill without modifications?

Try Karp's Power Brake Service. They rebuilt the treadlevac on my 54 and did a great job. They have been in business about 25 years. Here is the link:

Fred, I suggest you use a rebuild service.
I put a universal master cylinder and vacuum booster on my 71 Olds after the original part I bought from Advanced Auto Parts died. While the parts worked fine the master cylinder is now leaking again. I guess I will have to go back to Advanced Auto again to see if they can get ahold of another universal under my warranty.

Been gitting it dun!
Gas tank installed and flowing, master and REBUILT booster installed, now doing new wheel cylinders and lines. Wiring almost all working. Radiator filled and tested. All windows now working proper like. After this, a tune up and road test.

summer has been busy and I've neglected stopping in.
The brake system is all new, every hose, wire, pipe and shoe and stops on a dime.
The wiring has been gone though and working proper and new wheels and tires.
Now over winter a couple things going on. 1 is the shifting issue ~ wants to upshift too soon and downshift too late. Then its the body and paint. Colour will be forest green metallic with a white pearl roof.
I never knew I wanted one till I bought it. I think I'm in love.
