I know that Olds brake booster units tilt back quite a ways, but just how much should they be? A friend was looking under the hood of my '72 and thought something wasn't right. It does look like brake fluid would spill out if you popped the master cylinder cap. It looks like it tips back a good 30 degrees or so. Looks the same in most pictures of engines I see on ebay, etc. Seems like the canister unit could only bolt on one way, so this should be correct. Is this right? Chumley

 

I suspect it is right as every 68-72 A-body I've owned has been tilted back. I'm dismantling a 1968 Delta 88 right now and the power booster does hold the master cylinder level so I don't know why Olds tilted them on the Cutlass/442. John

 

True on my 71 Cutlass convertible and 72 Cutlass Supreme parts car. Even a 72 Buick Skylark (also an A-body) that I used to own was tilted back. You can't fill the master cylinder up all the way...don't know why they did that.
