Filling Conv. top motor

What is the easiest way to fill the reservoir on the pump/motor and a 70 442?
Do you use brake fluid or auto trans fluid?
Thanks,
Joe

The pump uses auto trans fluid. Some guys squirt the fluid into the pump. I like to take a piece of tubing, push it through a hole in an old rubber plug from the pump, pushed into the pump. The other end of the tubing in a container of trans fluid. Run the pump up and down, it will siphon the fluid into the system.

Thanks for responses. The reason I asked what type of fluid is the shop manual said to use brake fluid.
how do I access the pump? How do I take the top well cover off?
Thanks,
Joe

In the 1972 Oldsmobile service manual page 12-18 it states that Dexron ATF is used. Your pump is located in the trunk, attached to the rear seat back, you should be able to lift the top well cover and see it.
