Neutral safety switch





Can I add neutral safety switch to this floor shifter

I believe the 1969 & 1970 had the switch on the floor shifter. The 1971-72 shifter looks the same but without the switch on it. If someone else doesn't come up with the answer first I'll try to get a picture of a 1969 shifter showing where the switch is attached. John

Yes you can add a neutral safety switch to your shifter assembly, it requires a special bracket and of course the neutral safety switch, off a 1970 setup. PM sent.

Did 442crzy provide what you needed? I can get some photo of a factory 1969 shifter with the switch mounted if you still need it. John

I converted my 70 column shift with a console and shifter from a 72. I just left the backdrive linkage connected to the column mounted nss switch. Works perfect. Why waste money on a rare part unless it's a concourse restoration.

I'm not sure if your wanting to have your car original or not. If not, it might be easier to do what 4speed455 suggested. Either way, here's a couple photos of my 1969 with the factory floor shifter. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to see any other views. John
