428. Cam is in kinda early, and I think it just ran outta air.
BUT, starting off at over 500tq outta make it a fun ride!! Going in a ‘79 TA in place of the original 403.

Finally dropping off my block to the builder next week for a similar build. I believe he's actually doing two stroker SBO's at the same time.

I'd be happy with those numbers.

Great build. What duration range is that cam in? Huge torque, I would say Peyton's heads aren't too big for 428 ci, over 500 ft-lbs from 3000 RPMs. That means tire annihilation and has 500 HP at loafing rpm. I really should have had Mark build me one, great job as always.

Nice build Mark. This is similar to what I may upgrade the 374 in my 70 Supreme to in the near future. Question - how do you think this same build with the new SBO heads would compare? About the same or less or more?

It’s been stated a hundred times on here, but here it is again;
Gas block
4.125 bore
4.00” stroke

Thanks. Here’s what I can tell you. I did virtually the same build with out of the box GEN III BB Edelbrock’s, and they made a little less torque, about 10 pounds, but about 8 to 10 more horsepower, and a broader range.
Small block head would probably make a little more torque like this, and maybe about the same horsepower as the bigger head. But, you’ll need a much larger dish in the piston to keep the same compression ratio.
