Ok, went to Panama City Dragway this past Sunday. Made no changes since "Week Two". Results as follows:

1st run: new PB 7:02 ET @ 97 mph with 1.56 60' time, YES.
Temp. 75* with 10-15 mph slight headwind. Have installed tubes in rear tires, air @ 10 psi.

2nd run: 7:08 ET @ 96.87 mph with 1:57 60' time.
Traction not as good

3rd run: 7:10 ET @ 96.76 mph with 1:57 6' time.

4th run: 7:12 ET @ 96. 56 mph with 1:58 60' time.

5th run: no ET but 60' time was 1:57. Got in to something, spun the tires and car got out of shape @ the 330' cone and had to back out of it big time!

Going to change the flat steel hood over to our light weight, lift off, W25 style hood for weight savings and getting some cooler ram air to the carb. Then will start jetting changes and timing. Hope to pick up a tenth or more! Past experience tells me it should pick up more than a tenth. Also, building up one of my spare Moser 12 bolt Ch**y rears to a 4:56 ratio to try that over the 4:10 ratio that is in the car now, for 1/8 tracks. I can see high 6's in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave.......a 7.02 x 1.595 = an 11.197 quarter mile ET. Not too shabby . Both the hood and the 4.56s will help a bunch. You are doing very good!

To be correct I did a "1.565 60' time" on my 7:02 ET pass. So 7:02 X 1.565 = 10:98 ET in the 1/4! Oh Wow!

BTW: still ony shifting on a 5700 rpm chip and going though the traps (last mph light) @ 5,400 rpm!

 

Hmmmm if you take your 1/8 mile ET times 1.595 you come up with what the 1/4 mile ET will be (approximately). My car sixtys 1.30 and ETs 1/8 mile 6.25 but runs the 1/4 about 9.96. Should have explained what I was doing better......Sorry.

It is all ok! So Andy, I am using the wrong 60' number for multipling X s my 1/8 mile ET???? Me confused. I thought (my problem, lol) the formula was 1/8 mile ET X 60' time = approx. 1/4 ET.

 

Dave, don't use the 60' time at all. Your 7.02x1.595=11.1969

My 6.25X1.595=9.96875

All the 1.595 is is a multiplyer or a divider if going the other way.

Clear as mud?

Dave: Congrats!! That car is moving and has lots more in it by the sound of things.

My 9.76 pass was a 6.15 in the 1/8 mile...so 1.59 worked as multiplier. There may be a slight variance in times when using conversion equations..cars may lay-down on the top end, or pull harder...
