Week two on the "New" race car testing

Well took the "New race car" again to Panama City Dragway again today for T and T.

Changes made from Week One:

bumped timing from 35* total to 37* total all in @ 2,000 rpm

adjusted valves from I-.017 and E-.019 cold to I-.020 and E-.022 hot

up rear tire psi from 9 psi to 10 psi

changed pinion angle from 1* down to 3* down

5700 rpm chip ( still has 4:10 gearing, which in next month or so will be going to a 4:56 that I am building up)

1st run: 1.774 60'
7.41 ET @ 95 mph
really, and I mean really bad traction

2nd run: 1:66 60'
8.57 ET and get this I ran out of fuel mid way thru the run! DUH !!!!!!! How stupid is that guys. lol

lowered rear tire psi back to 9 psi

3rd run: 1:59 60'
7:20 ET @ 96 mph

4th run: 1:59 60'
7:21 ET @ 96 mph

changed timing back to 35* total all in at 2,000 rpm

5th run: 1:58 60'
7:17 ET @ 97 mph

So motor liked the timing adjustment and lower tire press. A note would be that this car can be very consistent. Last week it went 7:14 s so maybe need to tighten up valve adjustment back to .017/.019. Been really enjoying my self "learning all over again".

Want to say that because of this site and the good people on it that I learned a "new way" to adjust solid lifter valves in a very easy format. At first when I read the method stated it seemed very laborious, however I am always wanting to be "enlightened". Well anyways, it turned out to be very easy, less confusing, and I did not need to draw a diagram of 8 cylinders labeling each intake and exhaust valve on each 180* rotation of the crank, etc., etc.

a very special THANKS to ah64pilot for the "new" and efficient way of adjusting solid lifter valves!!!!!! thank you !

Dave I appreciate the kind words. While I didn't come up with the procedure I did try to make a thorough writeup that was simple to understand. I'm glad you were able to take something from it.
