Picked UP "The NEW" Race Car Yesterday

Hello ALL,

Picked up the race car in Valrico, FL. (just east of Tampa), yesterday on Sunday afternoon in on/off rain showers. Loaded the car, parts, wheels and tires, and all the original front and rear seats. BTW: the seats (including all of the interior) are MINT! Also, got the Linden New Jersey Build Sheet, Protect-O Plate, and Glove Box Manuals. All-in-all a good trip, but rained most of the day.

Can't wait (got to go slow) to get'er on the track and go through the leaning curve, then wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Really excited about racing again, just not having a Stock/Super Stock class car that has to run "the numbers", and the expense $$$ to be competive in class racing.

Love the sound of a well built BBO at idle and then blip the throttle, nice and crisp! YES

dave b.

Like it! like it! like it! Can you post some good pics of the trunk area. I have a 72 that is slowly becoming a bracket car and want to discard the stock fuel tank and put in a fuel cell.

Thanks

I saw that car on racingjunk.com a while ago. Seemed like a really nice car for the asking price.

That is a sweet setup. Could easily go back to stock after you're done racing it. The panels and doors look pristine. I don't think I'd be able to get in though. Not enough clearance. Drag racing must be for skinny people.

What, you mean no dash vents? That was standard for cars without AC and vent windows. Do I win?

AllanR: No, wrong! However, you are correct, all Non A/C with vent windows got a "ventless dash".

Hmmm, I guess I didn't win the ride but here's my next observation. It's not so much the dash it's the steering column with the shift lever removed. That must be it because the trim plate has the correct burlwood, the heater plate is correct and the Cutlass emblem is correct

Sadly, this car is nicer as a drag car than quite a few peoples unmolested barn find cars. The sills, doors, trunk everything looks mint. Hell even the trunk stickers are mint. Very nice car, makes me jealous wishing I could have one like it.

Your car looks nice, I have a 1970 cutlass supreme race car that I am working on. I noticed you have the horn relay removed and rewired. Do you have a closer picture of how that is wired.

Your car is awesome, love the rear seat delete. It's a perfect old school hot rod. I bet getting around the bars is chore.

AND THE WINNER ISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS: bennie442, but you are only partically correct. Awwwwwwwww

It is NOT a radio delete. Look in the "1970 Salesman Guide" and you will find that a radio in any A model (F-85, Cutlass, Cutlass S, Cutlass Supreme, Wagon, and 442) was an OPTION. Therefore, there is no such thing as a "radio delete option". You got the extended plastic dash cluster panel to cover the area were the radio would have been. Neat huh? When we looked in the car the first time we did not see it at first, because of all the other bling, like the neat gauges , shifter, tach, etc. When the owner gave me the assembly build sheet and I looked at the options ordered, a bulb in my head went off (although dim!) I yelled at my bud Bruce " holly mackel she did not order a radio". We both looked at the dash and there it was. I felt like a virgin again! lol lol LOL

your hired for FREE

mobileW-30: you are now the offical "Parts Expediator" for Bunch and Hargabus Racing, for of course no pay or as we say, FOR FREE.

Nice score on the fender and bumper. I assume that is the replacement for the bent front bumper. Plus, I thought you aready had a LF fender that was good?

Keep sending pics of this car. This is one awesome looking car.

I love the old school racecar look, which is why I went on a search for old Cragar Super Tricks. I can't wait to put on HUGE gold metal flake 60's-70's style vinyl stickers that says "BABCI'S OLDS" across the doors.

To 380racer, First I love the car, but please (for my own selfish purposes) put the stock hood on that thing and make it look like a superstocker. It would be worth losing a tenth or two or three

Dave - I noticed the radio delete on first glance even before you asked the question. I had radio but heater delete in my 67. Good luck with your new "Toy" looks like a fine piece -- and a nice "stablemate" for that incredible "point" car!!! Enjoy!!

Chesrown 67 OAI: thanks. I have been mulling over that I wanted to pull the driveline out of the F-85 W-31 and build a race motor, install one of my race prep. slick shifted 4 speeds, and one of my 12 bolt Moser rear end, and go racing. But then if I go 11.49 or faster then I need to install a roll bar/cage, and then I would need to........................ well you know the rest. I really did not want to disassemble the F-85 car to do that. I spent too many years trying to restore it back to "as it was delivered to an Olds dealership" and of course lots of $$$.

So this car will keep me from messing with the F-85, thank goodness I waited. It was meant to be ! LOL
