They were used on Olds for one year, 66 but Pontiac used them for several years including the 64-66 GtO's and big cars. The 66 Olds and Pontiac used the 3 large base carbs where the 65 and older used a small base center carb and large base end carbs. The large base carbs pull around 900 CFM.
What Pro is trying to do and getting at is is to say or prove my car was a POS and didn't run. That's his and the ******* from Canada's M O.
Dale's abrasiveness shows all of us Canadian's aren't polite but most of us, truly want to be a light in the world. A far as J heads, one guy got better numbers on a near stock engine, his testing. Dale mentions any 455 head is too small and borderline on a 400. Yet the new Edelbrock heads are too big on a 350. Interesting to see what is actually released. Not saying Dale is wrong, where is the point runner volume vs flow numbers matter? If velocity was everything, everyone would have the swirl port 7A heads on all their Olds V8's, they don't. Does the J head have superior velocity? I have read that claim on the #8 head as well vs earlier 350 heads. Everything from the 70's on, was fuel economy and emissions improvements, power was made in spite of it.

[QUOTE=Andy;1639460]Wow..all I got to say.. there is zero need to disrespect anyone with racing history. 66 3x2 is not only a former racer but has helped more people in the Oldsmobile world than I can count..selfless with his knowledge on everything 66-67 cutlass 442. The kind of person who Always.. takes the time to help someone..I am not saying you others don’t do the same but it’s done more harshly than necessary..There is a thing called IQ and another called EQ, which teaches the art of communication without being antagonistic or a know it all.. all 4 engine builders on this post have serious knowledge in their craft. Why the need to run each other down? come on man.. let’s work towards helping the hobby and each other.[/QUOTE
Well said, I want to hear what every engine builder on here thinks just without the drama. The forum should be making us better builders / tuners with sharing of knowledge.
I don't remember what the Amarillo pass was. I had to go get the windshield fixed= 1 and done. I was playing a long game. Texas was only 1/4 of the way home.
I think your winning the "who can drive their car the most while racing it too" award. How many Drag and Drive events have you done so far?

Abrasiveness? You're being way to kind. I have Canadian friends and never had a problem and not sure what his is.

You've certainly been abrasive to me over the years, but I sure like having you around. Me and CanadianOlds have gone at it like cats and dogs before on other forums but, I have to respect his builds, and I don't disagree with his line of thinking. Don't worry Trac Pac Mike I'll grow on you, in a good way.......

I've completed 2 1/2 with my car, and rode with a fried on 2 others. I'm coining a new word "racecation". Just got to the hotel at Bowling Green. I double entered at Beech Bend.
I can't hold a candle to the Yukon Nomad Rovic!

Dale and Mark bring a lot of knowledge to this forum, they are both proven engine builders !
I have yet to see a non competitive engine builder, it goes with the pursuit of always searching for performance gains.

Being competitive is one thing, being a complete douche is another.
Go to any completive car forum or internet thread that is performance based everyone's work is scrutinized. How many people have invested their hard earned $$$ to get an engine that self clearances and under performs?
I remember when we were at SIR in the early 80's, we started talking to someone that was new to class racing. In his pursuit to be more competitive with his 1971 442 he turned to a vender located in California. For his efforts he said that he spent a lot of money with with zero gain in performance. The Oldsmobile community is and has been plagued with used car salesmen pretending to be engine builders. There is nothing wrong with scrutinizing claims of performance. Go to the customer feed back thread on this site, check out the latest used car salesmen pretending to be an engine builder. When I checked out the website and their posted videos I had to laugh.

you’re not sure what my problem is because there isn’t one.
it’s all in your head.
I’ve attended many Olds meets all over the US and Canada, with my car. Did you ever run at the Olds meet in Norwalk ?
I met everyone there, enemies and friends. never had an issue with anyone. in fact, I left those events with more friends than I came with. I think you have an issue with how my personality comes across online. you’ve never learned that some personalities don’t lend themselves well online.

like sarcastic and blunt..
Your persona online is just fine, I've enjoyed your contributions, need more like you, really. What I'd really like to see is some detailed pictures of your car and "Trac Pac Mike's" car and any other race Oldsmobiles, there both Oldsmobiles, but I guess I could keep posting pictures of my cars.....................................
3x2s car went 12.80s @ 107, he posted this info on this thread. I refer to him as "Trac Pac Mike"
are you serious, that’s a national record? they were running quicker than that in 1966 in C stock. how in the world would a 66 W30, or 3x2 ever be in H stock? The pic he posted is a W30
I know when the NMCA first started in the late 80’s it was a total joke. They were handing out awards and record runs like candy. cars were not classed correctly or ever torn down.
same with IHRA. My home track went IHRA for a few years in the 90’s. There was literally no tech inspection after a so called record run, just a run across the scales. Guys would walk the pits, look for classes that had no cars or very few, pic that class and have a hay day.

It looks like Mike's car had to run exhaust manifolds and full exhaust, it also seems like he was running the car with weight to fit the class. In 66 they could run open headers but had to carry the full exhaust system weight. In C stock they would have been running lighter.
