1983 royale delta 88 63,000 miles

Hi

First time posting i recently purchased a olds 1983 88, I'm undecided if i should replace the whole engine in the car to make it new and upgraded.
Anyone have thoughts on it, if i should keep the engine under the hood all original
what kind of engine and size could i put in the frame ?have a engine motor in mind ?
I am in NYC any high performance engine builders out here for a recommendation.

^^^THIS^^^

A 403 is the same externally as the 307 that came in your car.

As said the 403 is an easy and direct swap. Early 330 or 350 heads boost compression up from the factory high 7's to around 9 to 1 with stock pistons. Are you planning on running the factory CCC setup?

Any good recommendation for a 500-600 hp engine that fits the frame ?

Looks like a good honest mostly original car. If the engine is tired, I'd concur with the others -- you could build a nice 403. Other than that and paint and some interior work, I'd say DFIU.

For 500+ HP either a 455 or a 350 with Cutlassefi stroker 350 4" crank. Neither will be cheap, especially at the 600 HP mark.
