Brian is right, there is a small hex screw. If you've lost it you might be able to get one if you go to a nut and bolt supply. BTW its the same set screw as the ones on the heater/AC *****

Not all wiper switches for 69 Cutlass/442's have this set screw. And this may apply to the 68's too. I'm restoring a 69 442 that has an original switch that uses an internal metal spring shaped like a hexagon that fits up into the back of the **** and provides an interference fit to hold the **** to the switch. I looked for the set screw for several minutes and couldn't find it and eventually decided to try pulling on the **** to see if it came off. So if there is not set screw, you have the other style. No telling how many were made this way. I also have another switch from a 69 Cutlass parts car and it has the set screw. The external appearance of both ***** is identical except for the set screw. And I believe the shape of the stem of the switch itself is different between the 2 styles.
