The trans. position indicator mechanism is broken on my speedo. Is this part available new or aftermarket? Anybody have a used one?

 

This should be easy to find used off a broken speedo - I have not seen repros of it anywhere and I am convinced it is not repro'ed. I saw these on busted speedos in that distant yard I went to, but I will not be back there for a while, as it is far and it floods after lots of rain (like we are having now).

While you are waiting for a replacement, try some 5 minute epoxy glue. This is a low stress area (during normal operation) and epoxy is super strong. Just a thought...

 

Make sure you don't use super glue. It just won't hold plastic worth a damn. Get a good 2 part epoxy designed for use with plastic and you should be good to go.

 

The only thing 'super glue' bonds well is skin...

 

No kidding. It actually works quite well in a pinch on a cut if you don't have access to bandages.
