Steering box help please

Need help. Rebuilder screwed up my numbers matching box for my 71 442. I dont want to go into detail because he has a good reputation and doing everything he can to make this right, and i think this was a one time issue. But i need a #6 steering box with a casting date of 235 and an assembly date of the 251 day of 70, or as close as possible. I know you parts horders have to have something close. Thanks brandon

Power or manual steering box? I've got several from cars I've parted over the years. But have not looked closely at them. Where is the #6 on the casting number located?

Blu sorry forgot to say power steering. The 6 is on the side of the box thats against the frame rail towards the front of the car, and the casting date is to the right od that. The assembly date is on the aluminum plate on top stamped on a little pad. See below. Thanks Brandon

You do realize that there aren't any numbers that "match" on the steering box, just date codes that are on hundreds if not thousands of equivalent boxes.

Yes joe I understand that there are no numbers matching steering boxes, i should have said correct date coded steering box. And i know that there are thousands and thousands in that range that will work. All the ones i had where too early or too late. Thanks brandon

Sorry, I think others will be able to get closer to the date you want than I can. I found one with the right dates, but the casting turned out to be a 67. The closest I could come on a 6 casting was 211 on the low side or 314 on the high side. John
