SSII wheels mounted with very good T/A's

I have 4 14" SSII mounted with 225/70-14 Radial T/A's with probably 85% tread left. They've been stored in a garage for about 5 years, not outdoors. Anybody want them for $50 pickup only? (Salem, Oregon area)

Are they the bolt on or snap on center caps? What kind of wheels did you put on in their place? John

I had to go out and look. They are bolt-in centers. They need new center decals and the wheels themselves need paint. Also the tires are 225/70-14, I checked while I was out in the garage. I bought a set of these last summer, they are made up in Portland: http://www.specialtywheel.com/wheel-...olds-ssii.html

What size did you get? I've got some 15X7 bolt on centers and I really like the way they fill out the wheelwells.

$50 for your tires and wheels is a great price! The bolt on center wheels should bring more than that! Hopefully someone in the Willamette Valley will need them. If you strike out and need the space I would purchase them and see if my buddy in Keizer could pick them up and store them for a while. But first lets see if someone up there can use them. John

I got 15x7. I put 255/60-15 on the back and 235/60-15 on the front. Looks good!

I mainly want to reclaim the space....I'm not trying to make money on these tires/wheels and I don't want to go to the trouble of shipping them. I might advertise them locally on Craigslist but I hate dealing with all the idiots...("Will those fit a 92 Jetta?")

Don, if you can use them they're yours! Certainly worth the gas to drive down to the Salem area! John

Just be aware, they wont' fit a '92 Jetta!

Seriously let me know if you want them. I'd be willing to meet you in Wilsonville if it would help you out.

No Jettas here. I'll take them. Wilsonville would work or I can drive down to Salem. I'll send you a PM. Thanks!

Cool! I've had the chance to meet several members of this board in person. It's always fun to meet other Oldsmobile nuts!

Thanks Don, I hope those wheels clean up real nice for you. I haven't posted any pictures of the outside of the car but I have a few threads on the restoration progress:

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...rior-redo.html

I will get some pics of the car with the new tires and wheels on it soon. I went on a scenic drive last fall and went to take some pictures only to find I had left my memory card in the computer at home.

I read though your threads. This morning I picked up some SEM Landau Black for my dash pad. The prep I got wasn't the same, but it is SEM and should work fine. Thanks for the link, I needed to get started on that.

I got one wheel cleaned up. Here's a before and after shot. I need to do a little more detailing on the center cap. Also ordered some lug nuts. Still need to order some emblems. I like the ones with the red rocket. Fusick has a good price, but doesn't say anything about the color. I may call them next week. Thanks again for the great deal.

Lookin' good!

Nice job Don! That paint looks great. What kind and color is it? Some tire dressing and a new center decal will have you totally stylin!

Thanks! I couldn't find a standard dark gray so I ended up using DupliColor Ford dark gray. I thought about ordering some, but fugured I wouldn't be happy with the color. This was only $7 and the semi-gloss is about right. I sanded a few rust spots with 80 grit, then scuffed everything with a Scotchbrite pad, primed it and then the Duplicolor.

I've got a second wheel almost done, it needs one more coat of paint. That first wheel was a front I'm guessing. I had to give all the trim a bath before polishing. The second one I just polished with Mothers Chrome Polish.

I still need to detail the center caps. There's a painted area in the lug nut notch. I did a test on this second one and the Duplicolor looks pretty good. Think I'll wait and do all 4 at the same time.

Good choice on the paint, it looks perfect. I've had good luck with DupliColor, Plastikote, and Krylon. Not so much with Rustoleum.

Post more picks when complete. Can't wait to see 'em on your car also. I'm so glad these wheels went to somebody who would clean them up and use them.

Either of you guys want to check this out? I've got too many irons in the fire, but it sounds like even as a parts car this would be cheap! John

Sorry John, not even something I can consider taking on at the moment. Like I was telling Don--Everything is a work in progress....the house, the yard, the car, the shop.......

Thanks for thought, though! j.p.m.

Hi J.P., I got side tracked. I bought one can of paint which was enough until I decided to detail the center caps. I ordered another can and haven't got back to the wheels since I got it. While I was waiting on the paint I pulled the left fender so I could remove the heater box, detail it and replace the heater core. That snowballed into stripping the side vent area while the fender was off. Then might as well pull the cowl vent and work on that area. Now I'm thinking the wiper linkage needs to come off. Just a bad case of "Might as well" I guess. Plus I bought a 68 Cutlass S project. So that's taken some of my time too. Here's the thread on that car: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...r-project.html

I'll post some pics. when I get em done! Hopefully soon!

Hey, I know the feeling! We were going to get carpet and paint the inside of the house, and the next thing I know we're putting in a sprinkler system. Don't ask me how that happened. I will check out your thread!
