Selling Motor and Trans

I have a 70 Rocket 350 with #6 heads and a 2 barrel carb the motor was built in lansing, MI. It is attached to a 68 th400 trans. Both need a rebuild. I am not sure how to price them for local sale. I am looking for prices for both or each separate. Thanks in advance.

Well I'm in Maryland and decided not to remove my 1970 350 2 bbl engine before sending the car to the scrap yard. So I would say start at $.10 / pound. You can probably get as much for the heads as you can the entire engine. The TH400 maybe worth more, maybe, I don't know.

You are at lease double what my experience is. Is the 400 short or long tail. I had 2 BOP longs I went as low as 50.00 each on and still didn't get a nibble with relisisting on CL for months.

I had a good running 72 350, complete, took for ever to sell, got $200. I would think, you would do good to get core prices. $100 for motor, and $50 for tran.

150 for a good core short block. Meaning minimal ridge and great bearing surfaces. Prime stuff for one of my junker builds lol. 75 if its just core short block. Trans cores no more than 75 bucks unless you drove it or it was rebuilt shortly before sold. Heads usually bring in more usually about 100-150 for core heads.

I would actually pay more for the 73 as they have less dish in the pistons but the key would be if they are reusable. The 71-72 use swimming pools for dishes in the pistons lol.
