Angry Safety First

That was pretty foolish to remove those cylinder heads from a running engine...you could have been seriously hurt...

G heads are 71 heads. Someone swapped those onto the 76 motor, or the motor is a 71.

Well the story is last feb i purchased the motor and had it shipped to my machine shop here in town having never seen the motor and only knowing that the car was running prior to it and the trans being taken out since i was doing a complete rebuild. When i spoke to the guy who was selling it i was told the heads were j heads. Friday i go to pick the motor up (which i purchased c heads for) and all my misc parts. And the heads they pulled out that were originally on the motor when it came where g heads i told him they were not mine but he assured me they were so who was i to argue with him. Free disposal of j heads and a free replacement set of g heads, lets just say i agreed with him and took em home.

i honestly don't know what there worth. I do know i spent close to $400 on my c heads but they had comp springs, magnum roller rockers, etc. I'ld at least like to get enough out of em to get my mini starter, distributor, or torque converter. So some one be honest with me, what r they worth?

I can't even get 100 bucks for mine.
I'd recommend that you hold onto them.

In the late 70s were the replacement heads K or Ka heads, or were they strictly using J heads by 76? Perhaps a dealerhsip replaced the heads on the car under warranty and had a pair of G heads sitting around...

Wow! J-chi I know i wanted atleast that for them. It would be pointless to sell for any less being that i could use them for "just in case" reasons.

DC2x i'll check the valve size to see if they are.
