D heads or H heads

D heads or H heads

which heads are better. i have guy telling me that the D heads are better than the H heads.

The reality is that they are equivalent. The only real difference is that the H heads have induction hardened valve seats for use with unleaded gas. Since D heads were made for two years, I'd also say that H heads are more rare. In any case, these are worth the most to a restorer. For any high performance, modified application, I'd sell the rare castings and use the money to build a motor with aftermarket heads.

Are C's pretty much the same as H and D then performance wise?

D heads have a smaller combustion chamber, the smallest of all olds big block heads. Best if you want t gain a little compression.
