1965 425 Starfire camshaft

Hello everyone!

I am a fanatic Oldsmobile.
For several years I read on your forum.

I own a Buick Skylark 1971 with a 425 Olds Starfire 1965 (Block 386525A) and I love it.
I have a problem: This is a 45 ° bank angle, I wonder where to find a good camshaft?
I also need your advice about good specifications for this camshaft.
TH700R4 (modified 600 + HP) 3000 stall, "A" heads light porting, intake Torker, 750 cfm Holley 0-4779C, MSD 6AL, 3.73 posi Chevy 12 bolts.
Now 13.15 to 107mph on the quarter.

Thank you for your help!

PS: Sorry for my English, I use a translator because I speak French...

The company of your choice can grind one on 45 degrees for not much more money. I like Comp Cams but you will get various opinions on the forum.

Except Mondello, they charge $300.00 for cam alone.
I offer custom grinds starting at $225.00 shipped in the U.S. Where exactly are you located?
Sounds like the basis for a nice revamp. Best of luck.

Hello!
Thank you for your answers!

I have a friend who has a U.S. address, I'll check what specs I would need for a custom grind, unless you have any suggestions?

It would be very kind of you!

Thank you very much!

That's what's in there now? Are you sure it's a 45 deg bank angle? What size lifters do you have, .842 or .921?

Whats the compression ratio? If its 10.0:1 or better then with your combo I'd run something in the upper 230@.050 to lower 240 range on the intake side. Lift will be determined by your current springs.

Hi cutlassefi!

425 #A coded block (65 only, 45 degree and had .841" lifters)
Starfire engine 10.5:1, With "A" heads #383821

Currently, my springs are comp cam 901-16.

Thank you again!

That's not a big spring so you're limited on lift and profiles.

If you're going for more power then I'd do a 234/241@.050, lift would be .480 on each as that spring won't handle any more than that. I'd rather you change the springs as well but if you stay with that spring then that's the best you'll be able to do.
