Which paint for Chassis?

I used GM satin reconditioning paint 10 years ago when I did my front frame rails on my 72 Olds cutlass.

Im doing my 80 olds cutlass now and have the choice between

Eastwood's Chassis Black
or
Gm Reconditioning Black

I do not know which one to go with...anyone have experience with them?

FWIW I just googled up some chevelle threads that mention GM changed the formula they use for that paint recently and it is now basically just a flat black.

I'm in the process of doing some durability testing on a bunch of these chassis type paints atm, but nothing interesting to show as of yet. If I were you I would get the smallest amount available of each and just paint some stuff black see which you like better. From what I could gather GM has spray cans of that stuff, but don't quote me on that and I know eastwood sells spray cans of theirs.

PS Eastwood actually has three "Chassis Black" Colors:
-Chassis Black
-"Extreme" Chasis Black (same look as first, but newer/tougher)
-Ceramic Chassis Black (Only available as 2k spray gun quart)

I know, I'm not helping any, am I?

I did mine with NAPA Martin-Senour chassis paint, the stuff is nice, just the right gloss and it's really durable, also a lot less expensive than Eastwood and you can buy it off the shelf.
It comes in big spray cans, can probably get it in liquid measures too.
The engine brackets, air cleaner, upper radiator support, firewall, underbody, front and rear control arms and rear end I did with Eastwood underhood black.

Don't forget the option of POR (and, possibly, POR Chassis black, as a UV-resisting top coat) if you plan on driving it regularly - very durable.

por-15 and gm reconditioning paint

I used both Por-15, then when it was just tacky sprayed it with the gm reconditioning paint ( it came premixed in a gallon can from year one) it looks really well, I love the look of blue vistas martin semour though, mine is a little flatter then that

^x2 if you are going to use POR.

You cant use POR if you do not top coat it, the base POR you put over rust is not UV resistant.

I used 2 part epoxy satin black chassis paint and am happy with the results but i am applying over sand blasted bare metal.

Harmon you can spray POR 15

I used it on my chassis and turned out great the bonus is the product is self leveling which fills the inperfections in the frame
