Very nice repair. Did you make the patch panel? Just finish painting the hood and you'll be just fine. If you want it to have the aged patina, let the neighbors kids play around it for a day or 2.

Yep all about practice on this one.
I made the patch out of a rusty old section of 49 Panel truck 1/4 I have laying around from an old project. I should have(lots of these) cut out a cleaner more rust free piece. I made a cardboard template and grabbed a body hammer and started beating on it till it almost fit then beat it some more. My vise with rubber jaw guards came in really handy for a place to pound. I have RR track and a chunk of maple for beating on but think the vise was perfect. My 1st compound curve patch panel.
I wanted to match the patina more and was going to fog some black then one more coat of white primer then scuff but the new bomb can started to sputter. If it were on a good hood I'd spray with a gun.
Good enough for now. Lots of fun

Not sure if I'll do that plate again. Worked for my bike.
