I would use a heat resistant paint on an engine, that can be purchased at an auto paint store. The paint should be heat resistant to 600 degrees or better - the higher degrees the better. With regular paint, you can expect peeling PDQ, which presents a whole new set of troubles.

I used PPG acrylic urethane on mine with a product called rust destroyer as a primer...No problems and no burn off for three years now...

I've seen several people use regular automotive paint on an engine block without any issues from the heat.

How did you get your colour?
I am looking for the 400 Engine Bronze mixture ratio. I know SuperCars has it in spray cans but they say they can't get it across the border. I can get around this but would rather just get the paint here in Courtney if I could.
