Hi

I've been using Duplicolor's DH1606 high heat aluminum to paint a lot of parts on my engine. I bought a bunch of cans of it a while ago. Now I ran out, and found out that they discontinued their high heat paint line! I called Duplicolor and they said this color was replaced with VHT SP117 aluminum (which is significantly more expensive). Does anyone have experience with the DH1606/SP117? Does anyone know if the colors match when they are dry? Thanks in advance!

 

I have had pretty good luck with the Duplicolor hitemp engine enamel.
Not sure if the color will match what you already are using But this stuff is readily available at $5 or so a can.

I used vht high heat paint on my headers ran it a whole season it has yet to flake or chip vht is some good stuff. I think the diffrences in the color wont be enough to not use. Specially under the hood where it is shaded and the diffrences will be very subtle compared to if you had it sitting out in the sun where the light will affect the color diffrence. If you really are curious buy a can of a cheaper high heat aluminum paint and do a test card. Spray it on a pop can see how it matches next to it.

 

Yes I agree the high heat paint is good stuff. I guess I'll buy a can of the SP117 and see how it matches. I have the DE1615 and it really doesn't match very well. The DH1606 had a very bright shiny look to it that I liked and that's what I'm trying to match. Thanks for the help!
