Console paint
#2
Brad, I recently rebuilt my 4-speed consone in my 66 Cutlass.
For the chrome part I did the following. I stripped the old paint off with MEK and used brass wire brushes to remove the old paint. It was a chore done in stages which worked out to going thru the process three times. The paint I used was Rustoleum Appliance epoxy Black. Bar code 20066 78868. Two light coats about 30 minutes apart. No primer required. Turned out nice. I will say that the finish also depends a lot on the condition of the chrome teeth. I used 3M yellow tape for masking. Excellent tape.
For the base in my case I did not paint because the repo base is black alraedy however I redid my my kick panels in that case and used SEM Color Coat #15013 Landau Black which is recomended for plastic and vinyl. Turned out nice.
I am sure more people will chime in with more information. Search on the forum using " console paint " or some derivative of that.
Hope tings work out.
