62 Cutlass Door mirror

1962+2 looking for original door mirror, the door mount is a flat base. I have found several door mirrors but they all have a mount that is NOT flat. Sorry about the size of the photos, someday I may learn computers!!!

Note; the FLAT mount

NOS ones pop up every now and then but you have to look close. Some of the NOS ones have a smooth forward side where the correct one is ribbed like in your picture. I have an NOS one that took me a long while to find. I hope to restore another 62 someday or I would let it go.

High there. Hope you can get your car going, They take a lot of work but they are so unique it is worth the work (and expence). Especially the Jetfires. I drive mine quite often and have noticed that around the Phoenix/ Mesa AZ area cars sure get close and trying to see them is a lot easier with a door mirror on the right door so I am going to modify my Cutlass a little. Mine is totally stock but I will accept this mod.
How much would you want for the mirror?

I hate to let it go because I hope to restore another one someday. I don't have the car yet but collecting parts for it. I will look and see if I have any good used ones.

The mirrors with the "V" base are for the 1962 full size cars. They sit on top of the fender peak. The mirror head is exactly the same on the 62 Cutlass cars, but obviously the base is different. Fusick sells the one for the full size cars. I've asked them a couple of times if they thought about repop-ing the base for the Y-body cars, or even just sell the head without the base. No deal. The ball stud on the head is pressed into the base, but I have not been able to separate them without breaking something.

Joe
I was at the 2019 Olds annual show and noticed the door mirror on a full size car. On the way home my door mirror was damaged (Damn birds)!! When I got home I contacted Fusick and even though the base is different I ordered the mirror. When it arrived I disassembled it and mounted on my F85 door mirror base, I works great!!
In todays Phoenix traffic I really want to be able to see as much as possiable, when the top is up there is a good size blind area, that is why I am trying to find a door mirror for the right side.

PS. At the 2091 show in Wichita Ks. I took a 1st place award (the best in class was awarded to a 1963 f85 original car and he deserved it).

jensenracing77 Thanks for the info about the mirror but at $175 and having to make a mount and gasket Then with incorrect mirror backing means I would need to buy a rorrect mirror I feel the price is out of my price range
Thanks again but I feel I need to keep looking.
