Official? big block Omega thread :)
which brings me to my next idea, i have all the rear disc brake parts off of a 2000 chevy blazer, if i have the money and time to spend, ill try to find a way to make them work on my 9 inch once its in, the caliper brackets share the same bolt pattern as the backing plate brackets my 10 bolt had, so when i ordered bearing ends from moser, i ordered the gm pattern so i can just put my brakes right back on. we will see if it ends up being drum or disc in the end.
people find it interesting when i tell them im building a 74 omega with a 68 toronado 455, with 97 pontiac firebird transmission, and a rear end out of a 77 ford pickup, haha
I also ordered my fiberglass bumper, should be here in a week or two, for all you omega guys... all 2 of you.. haha, if you want any fiberglass parts for your omega, call these guys http://www.glasstek.com
Found this efi Intake setup on evilbay, I think its a pretty good deal, thought about buying one and slowly working my way to a multi port c.o.p. 455, anyone have any thoughts on the price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/200848180033...84.m1438.l2649
i should do that and see what he says! also on another note, i found bowtie overdrive in california, they specialize in transmission stuff for classic chebbies, but they had a great price on a crossmember, so i just ordered one from them, should be here in a few days id imagine

What else dose it need?

I doubt it, but why are you going with a nv3500, isnt that like a truck transmission? would you be better off with like a WCT5 or something?
heres my idea for a bushing, mcloud 8617, its for like a 409 chevy to go from a turbo glide to a 4 speed. has a steel sleeve on the outside it looks like, and a standard bronze bushing in the middle, my crank was about 1.705 and this should be about 1.709 on the outside, gotta measure at work, could probably freeze the bushing and heat the crank and make them go together permanantly, then just tap out the bronze bushing and replace it when i do the clutch every once in awhile

There's nothing wrong with what your doing.I plane on doing the same thing but if I had the motor out was planing on rebuilding it I'd drill the crank and do it the right way.A little less weight on the crank never hurts.

I might have the crank drilled since im gonna tear the 455 down to install the 425 rods im getting from bill, but I dont NEED to because this setup im running makes the input about 1/2 too short, so if i do drill it, i just have to run an extended bushing, ill start by seeing how this works out, i really like this heavy duty steel bushing with the bronze bushing inside, looks like you press the steel bushing into the crank and just change the bronze bushing afterward!
I noticed on my 350 olds to NV3500 that the splines on the input shaft would be very close to being in the way.So I plane on making room for it.I would like to use a stock roller bearing pressed in to to a brass "holder".Do you know if the brass would expand to much. Also I'm going to use a hydraulic clutch let me what you plane on using. As far as lines and such.

Secondly, I wouldnt put it in a bronze sleeze ( you said brass, but im pretty sure you meant bronze, because brass is about as strong as butter ) If your wanting to go that route, I would have a machinist make a sleeve that fits in the inner diameter of the crank, and necks it down to the diameter you need. shouldnt cost much, I have had lots of reman engines come into the shop built that way for manual trans applications.
So basically, that picture I showed above would be what you want, except a roller bearing in the middle if you so chose.
I have to do the math still on the clutch setup to see whats most economical, but I am using a 97 firebird clutch master cylinder, these guys make a bracket to mount it to the firewall of the camaro/nova
http://www.speedtechperformance.com/...rod/prd212.htm
Im most likely gonna use this slave cylinder riding against a lakewood heavy duty clutch fork, unless I find its cheaper to go with one of those 200 dollar internal slaves

Speedway motors also offers fittings to put into the master and slave cylinder to change them to AN fittings, and they have stainless clutch lines

Let me tell you. lots of nights on the pc doin research!

I havent touched the car all week, waiting for parts to get here. Ill upload the pics the guy sent me of the hood, I havent even seen it yet, my boss picked everything up since he happened to be in the same area as the guy!
It was such a blessing when this guy emailed me, I have been looking for this setup since I bought the car, and found out they existed lol. I was about to head to BC and spend 800, this just worked out so much better!

Transmission lines right up with the floor support that runs across the floor about 6 inches behind the stock shifter location, anyone have any great idea for making that work? haha ill have some pics soon
Well gent's I dont have much for you this time, but here's my fancy new welder, I built the bottom half of the welding cart, it mainly consists of my jeep's front bumper, it only cost me $25 bucks in materials. Not like it matters though, Im running the welder to moses lake this evening for warranty work (fan doesnt kick on)

Heres where the transmission hits up front, subframe still needs to go up about 1.5inches or so

Wish I would have found this thread along time ago. I could have helped, but I still might be able to help. I am parting out my BBO Omega. Did you get new A-arms yet? I will sell mine to you and they have Global West Del-u-lum bushings with offset cross shafts and new Ball joints. Keep at it. You will love it! Oh, the 468 is for sale as well.

I did get lower control arms, which I would like to retain for cost efficiency, however I am in the market for Upper control arms, let me know what we can work out!

got this back today, just getting the trailer hooked up to the jeep was a story in itself... however, here is the old 10 bolt rear end, and the ford 9 inch cut down 2" narrower overall, with GM bearing ends welded on. need a pumpkin, and leaf springs, and ill be good to go.

Wow that is beautiful! If I had that kind of coin, I would pick up a BTR engine as well. What kind of headers did you use to fit around the stock steering box? Also, how did you get rid of all your chrome around your window on the sides of the car? I have some of the chrome off, but the pillars have little notches cut out of them! dang that thing is sweet!
Just a small update, no pics yet. Got my welder back after having some warranty work done to it, should be cutting up the floor this weekend and welding it all back up. I ordered my leaf springs today from calvert racing.
I am going to use disc brakes off the back of a 2000 chevy blazer on the 9", its going to take a little machine work, but Ill make it work.
Now I just need to decide If I should go buy this 66 toronado I saw on CL for 900 bucks running and driving :S

I had my headers built at a local shop [2" primaries x 3 1/2" collectors] when I still had stock heads on the car. The RR/Wenzler heads move the headers up and out, causing some frame clearance issues. ad to cut a small notch and box it in.
Thats not good to hear, I would really like to install RR headers at some point, even just the procomp heads would be nice. Just something to help drop some weight off the front. by the time you have aluminum heads, intake, w/p and pulleys, im sure your about the same weight as an iron 350.
got another small update, had to cut the floor where the front floor brace is, so i made this picture frame deal real quick. shows you how it should look when done.

heres the hard part, i had to redo the trans tunnel in this spot, this type of work isnt my specialty... well i havent had much practice anyway. but once i get it all welded and ground down, it will look a lot better.

also on another note, i have calvert racing leaf springs in my front room!
