Hurst Dual Gate shifter question

This shifter has been in my 69 442 as long as Ive owned it (20years). It never had a nuetral/back-up switch, and I would like to install one. I believe the shifter is from 68 or 69. I bought a switch from fusick and cant see how it hooks up, am I missing something or will it just not work with this shifter? Does anybody have this same shifter. Any help appreciated
Thanks, Rob

The style looks similar to the 68-69 H/O Dual Gate. Those have a specific neutral/back-up safety switch that is damn near impossible to find--and doesn't look anything like the one in your picture. Someone did email me with a link to a repro recently--I'll see if I can find it. I would take Firefost's suggestion first, though. With a straight stick, that is an original Pontiac shifter.

Thanks for identifying it as a pontiac shifter but I had no luck at performance years.

Ames Performance has the neutral safety/back up lamp switch for the '68 Poncho His-Hers shifter.
Why not just put on back drive linkage?
Or doesn't that column have a provision for it?

Ok, it looks like you have a 1970 olds only Neutral safety switch that you are trying to use with a pontiac shifter, thats why it doesn't look right. That rectangle switch that you have needs a special mounting bracket made just for the 1970 olds (parts place sells them) but i'm not sure it will work with that shifter.

The correct Neutral safety switch for the shifter that you have looks like a half moon and mounts up in the front of the shifter.

Here is a link of the breakdown of the shifter, the correct switch and where it should be mounted:
