67 Toro Vaccuum Headlights - Help!

When I accelerate the vaccuum headlights lower themselves. When I let up off the gas they come back up . This does not happen when the car is sitting still - only when moving. Any help, suggestions, are greatly appreciated.

How's the check valve on your vacuum reservoir?

Nope, probably not leaks - his reservoir check valve is allowing his reservoir vacuum to go down when his manifold vacuum does, hence a bad check valve.

A slow steady leak may be able to mimic a bad check valve, but it would also be enough to cause running problems, like a rough idle.

Tom, you should be able to view a schematic from the Chassis Service Manual to locate the check valve Eric mentioned. If you don't have one you can go to wildaboutcars to view it online.

If you think you might be missing pieces I've got a 1967 Toro with a working headlight system. I could post some photos of the different componets if that would help.

UPDATE - problem was improper vaccuum line routing. Routed all lines correctly, and now it works fine.

Thanks to everyone who responded.
