Vaccuum ports on a Performer RPM (7111)
Vaccuum ports on a Performer RPM (7111)
Hi all!
I worked out my google muscles and CO search muscles to no avail (really I tried). I am having the most difficult time determining the vacuum fitting sizes for the vacuum ports. The Edelbrock manual doesn't really say what size the ports are, just says that it ships with 1/4" pipe plugs.
I purchased some 1/4" NPT to 1/8" NPT bushings so I could re-use my original fittings (as nobody carries 1/4" NPT to vacuum fittings locally) but it doesn't feel right when I thread it in. I purchased the intake with the motor and it had vacuum fittings that thread in nicely, but the vacuum barb is too big for the Transmission and AC control. The last thing that I want to do is force it in, strip the boss and get aluminum shavings in the intake.
Your help is much appreciated!

Wrong.
There are three 1/4NPT holes in the runners of a Performer RPM intake, I have a new one sitting on my shelf.
If you're saying that a 1/4NPT plug won't go in then the threads may be buggered.
If you don't want to remove the intake, then the only way to do it would be to grease up a npt tap and slowly chase the threads a little at a time. Hopefully the grease will catch all potential shavings.
Remember, you have some available vacuum ports on the carb as well.
Hope this helps.
