Wow, that beings back childhood memories. In late summer of 66, my dad ordered a new Coronet 500 2drht, silver/black top/white buckets and 318. After numerous delays (something to do with the white interior) the dealer, who lived next door, showed up at our house with a bright red R/T 440 car and offered it to my dad instead of the car he ordered, no extra cost. My dad took it for a test drive, burning rubber as he pulled away from the curb. He went once around the block, parked it and told the guy "no thanks". He said it was too flashy and too fast for him, and waited another month for the ordered car. It was eventually built, but showed up with a black interior instead of white. The explanation for the delay was that the white bucket interior was temporarily unavailable.

Sweeeeeet! One of the dorkiest kids in high school had a turquoise 67 R/T. 440 4 speed. This was 1974 and the car had some miles (smoked like a freight train) and he had baby moon hubcaps on it (not cool). He parked it under a tree in about 1978 with a broken clutch linkage. I watched that car melt into a pile of rust. . I can't tell you how many times I stopped over the years to try and buy it. He was always gonna fix it up. I noticed it was gone last year when I went home. Not sure what became of it.
