I just bought this beauty. A model I have been looking for for quite sometime.

Olds 350V8, 19750 miles.

Triple black, cloth seats. A looker.

But the upload feature is not working??????

 

Uploads fail, I have never had this issue before?

 

I'm sure it's a beauty. Are you sure it's a 350, did the 98 come with the 403 standard in 77?

 

The standard engine in the 98 for 1977 (and 1978) was the 350 V-8 with 4-bbl carb. The 403 upgrade was a $65 option.

There was one similar in the Oldsmobile Club in KCMO over 20 years ago when my dad and I were active. The owner had manual cut outs on the dual exhaust. I remember lying on the ground to remove the cut outs since I was a young guy and he and his wife were retired.

 

It's a disease but someone else spotted it for me and I fell in love. I am a sucker for an Oldsmobile 88 or 98.

I am paying up for this one but life is short. I really wanted it. There is some crazing on the hood paint but this is common on this era. I have a 1978 Coupe Deville with 26,000 miles that this has happened too.

 

I waste a lot of time on the internet!

 

Those are great cars, I had a 78 Buick Park Ave. which was basically the same car. It had 240,000 miles on it when I parked it

 

Update on the sorting issues.

Well I have fixed the following

Clock
Radio AM-FM button was broke, replace with NOS. (never force that slider **** when the set buttons are not seated fully!)
Power Antenna was stuck, fixed short below and then it worked.
Power Seat wire had a short
Blower motor did not work. Another short in wire to motor in engine area but then replaced motor since it was making some noise.
Water pump went.
New belts, hoses, spark plugs, thermostat and new air filter.
Drained coolant, transmission fluid, bled brake lines, oil and filter.
Recovered sun visors.
Corrected poor headliner repair. The idiot who worked for the seller did not put clothes hooks back on and lost dome light wire under the headliner. So removed trim from driver's side found wire and snaked it back. Then put clothes hooks back by drilling new hole since screws were self tapping. I could not line up the holes.
Recharged A/C since it held vacuum with new R-12 and oil. Blows ice cubes now.
Dent Repair man took out 4-5 minor dimples on the sides. Mostly gone now except for some minor hard to see spots that most people would never see.

All I have left is hood repaint and hood pad. Plus need to rewire dome light fixture.,

Going to the AACA Spring Meet in Saratoga, NY in June.

 

Dome light repaired and put in a LED bulb since the fixture had shown some heat damage in the past. I think the LED will be cooler and reduce the heat.

So got a button missing in a seat and the hood and pad are left.

Sweet Ride

 

Well got the hood painted and a new hood pad. Car is back to 99.95%.

Painter had one tiny spec of a fish eye in the paint, very small but I always get some screw up on my stuff. But I am going to live with it. After 7 weeks looks great and ready to wax soon.

Any input on what the correct hose clamps are on the heater hoses? Car had wire clamps on it but the "experts" said that was wrong at the AACA. Plus they want a painted engine that looks new and I looked at the judge and said I never paint a decent looking original car under the hood, unless it is a mess. So never again would I go to those shows with a car since they cannot appreciate a 20K mile car unless it looks restored. Believe me the car looks like its only been off the show room floor 6 months.

However I have no problem with putting on the correct clamps and such.

Are they Corbin clamps or those others that work like the Corbin clamps that come off with pliers? The radiator hoses had the wire clamps with screws. What was on the heater hoses mine had the worm clamps. They said they were wrong.

 

What a beautiful car. I had a 78 Delta 88 and it was one of the best cars I ever owned. I believe the wire wheel covers you have are for an earlier model. Of course you probably already know that. Enjoy your car.

 

Incorrect the wire wheel covers on the car were a choice in 1976 and 1977 for a 98, Look them up in the 1977 Oldsmobile full line brochure I have the brochure

. So they are correct.

 

My apologies. I thought the later model wire wheel cover with the larger center came out in 77. Apparently they came out in 78.

 

No problem, you could get this style on a Buick too. Of course with the Buick emblem.

I forgot about these since I think they were a two year item. At first the were not my preferred hubcap, but they have grown on me. They are actually heavier on the later ones.
