fuel filter in a '65 nintey eight

Hi everyone! My first post here. I just picked up my first "old" car. A 1965 Ninety Eight w/ what I believe to be a 425. Anyways, the car drove home fine, and I put some premium in her before I got back. I went to take another drive, and it sounds like the engine is starved for fuel or air. It will start quick but idle really bad, and not rev up. The car had been sitting for about a year or so, so do you think the new fuel in the tank sloshed up the old gunk and clogged the fuel filter? I'm suspecting that, but I can't seem to find the fuel filter under the hood. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it could also be that the carb. has a buildup of varnish, from the stale gas.
the possibilities beyond this are numerous.
