1977 Olds 98 Heater hose clamps
#3
It is my understanding that Wittek (tower clamps) were used only on the thermostat bypass hose to the water pump. Regular worm clamps were used on the heater hoses and the lower rad hose connected to the water pump. The lower rad hose inlet worm clamp to the pump had a special belt shield on it if the car came with an R4 compressor due to belt position so close to the hose. Not sure if they used regular worm-style or double-wire clamp on A6 compressor cars, though as the belt doesn't come as close to the hose at that point. Double-wire clamps used on upper hose and rad side end of lower hose. This was a general factory setup used on Olds V8s I've seen from the late 70s to 1988.
I'm sure if I'm incorrect, someone will gladly hop in and correct it. But I'm only going by my limited research on late 70s Oldsmobile V8 cars.
