What does this numbers says?
Hello
I wonder if this numbers from the motor and windshield can tell me something about the car? My car is a Cutlass 1971 Ive been told it is a 350 V8 engine but thats about what i know.
Between the hood and the windshield is a plate with the following numbers
Body by fisher
ST 71 33687 G 62528 BDY
TR 937 75 A R?? (cant see what those 2 last letters are)
05A
On the panel inside the car
3368716123786
On the engineblock in the front
557752-3B
On the engineblock on the firewall side
CFD 75 And some watch symbol i think. And that symbol points "ten a clock"
Does this tell you something?
Very happy if someone comes up with some good information
Thanks!

VIN 3368716123786

I'll let others tell you about the codes on the trim tag, but you can google those codes yourself, if you'd like.
- Eric
- 3 — Oldsmobile
- 35 — Cutlass V8
- 87 — Holiday (hardtop) coupe
- 1 — 1971
- 6 — impossible character - must be a letter, not a number. Probably a "G" for the Framingham, Mass. assembly plant
- 123786 — Sequential production number

- Eric
ST71 - 1971 model year
3 - Oldsmobile division
3687 - Model and body style - Cutlass S Holiday coupe
G - Production factory - Framingham
62528 - Body number assigned by Fisher Body Works at Framingham. Not related to VIN
TR937 - This is the interior trim code/color/material/stitching pattern. Color is Ivory
PNT 75 A (The R you're talking about is the first letter of the PNT) Upper body color - Matador red, white vinyl roof
05A - Fisher body assembly time/build. This car body was assembled in the first (A) week of May (05) 1971.
Are you sure that's all that's on the cowl tag? No A51 or A52 by the TR code?
This is the car's VIN. (Vehicle Identification Number) It's what you need to register the cars tags.
It's pretty similar information except I think you made an oops documenting it.
3 - Oldsmobile
36 - Cutlass S
87 - Holiday coupe
1 - 1971 model year
6?? No, this should be G - it's the Framingham production code letter
123786 - Production sequence at Framingham. This is a later production model. Typically the last cars of the model run were at the end of June/early July.
EDIT: Ooops, I wrote 557265 by mistake. Eric's got you covered
Nothing significant. All blocks were cast at CFD (Central Foundry Division). So were intakes and exhaust manifolds. The other castings are time date stamps.
Thanks for the answers. I have a facebook page about my car. Its kind of a blog where i document everything i do on the car. Ill be glad if you could take a look at the hood and the grill. I was told that its a front of a -70 cutlass? Is that the case?
