If the emblems say "Cutlass", it's not a 442. In any case, as noted above, the VIN is unique for a 442 in 1969, so there's no need to guess, just look at the VIN.
Thanks! The guy working on it said the VIN starts with 34467! It does not sound like the numbers match though. He had trouble reading the other number but it is not the same. Should have it back in a month or so. We'll see.
It would not be surprising if they do not match. The G-block 400 motor used in the 68-69 442s was not one of Oldsmobile's better designs and many have been replaced over the years, usually with a 455.
You guys still there?
I have a "casting number" but it is only 8 digits? I am thinking one digit missing.
It is matching up pretty close to Joe Padavano's suggestion above. Also the mechanic somehow confirmed the displacement is 6.6L 400 CID V8

The casting number for a 68-69 400 block will be 396026 G and is a raised number located on the "shelf" above the water pump. The VIN derivative is a stamped number and is located on a pad below the No. 1 spark plug and is nine characters long.

We are still here! Years are minutes for many of us.😂 glad you still have the car.
