67 442 engine

What's the best way to verify that a 67 442 has a 67 400 motor? Are there certain casting numbers or other info on the block that I should look for. I know there is some information on the web regarding this info, but I wanted to pose this question to this forum.

On the block front near just behind water pump should be a large letter E. That will verify a 66 or 67 400. Then by #1 spark plug, just to the left should be a C and that will be the proper letter heads for a 67 400

Then look on the end of the C head. Fwd end of RH head, or aft end of LH head if they have been off -n- swapped:

"Stamped" there- and I mean by hitting a stamp with a hammer- not a cast-in feature- is the Engine Unit Number. The E400 442 engine will be stamped

V101123G

Where the V and G indicate the application, and the 6 digits between [above is obviously a contrived example number] are the engine's sequential ID number, useful only if you have a protecto-plate to match it.

Any chance your engine's car has the POP in the glovebox? _That's_ documentation.
